Special Academic Programs Offered
Technology (K-5)
CCA’s Technology classes are designed to provide the foundational skills of technology while teaching students how to be good digital citizens who safely use devices and other classroom technology. In technology class, students will become fluent in Microsoft 365 applications, as well as learn safe and effective research skills. Students across the grade levels will also get hands-on coding experience as they learn about algorithms and programming.
Physical Education (K-8)
CCA’s Physical Education classes focus on enjoying the bodies God has given us to glorify him through the development of competencies in physical skills, understanding movement concepts, promoting active lifestyles, achieving health-enhancing fitness, and practicing safe and responsible personal and social behavior in a physical activity setting.
Digital Art (6-8)
CCA’s Digital Arts Class allows students to explore graphic design at an introductory level while learning to understand their own personal design aesthetic. Students will learn and explore the elements of design: how colors work together, typography, balance, spacing, and unity of the design.
Discovery Spanish (6-8)
Discovery Spanish gives middle school learners essential vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation necessary to engage in novice level conversations with their classmates. In addition to language practice, students learn about the cultures and customs of the 21 Spanish speaking countries of the world.
Servant Leadership and Bible (6-8)
Middle school students at CCA get the opportunity to learn about servant leadership through a Biblical worldview and hands-on application. In this class, we will cultivate Christ-centered leaders by grounding learners in Biblical truth, providing opportunities for learners to model servant leadership, and nurturing character that reflects the heart of Jesus in all areas of life. Learners will participate in a variety of service projects and will explore Biblical truths throughout the year.
Technology (6-8)
This course is designed to help students build essential technology skills while also cultivating independence, curiosity, and responsibility in their learning.
This course also emphasizes the importance of online conduct that reflects biblical values. Learners will be encouraged to use technology in ways that are safe, respectful, and uplifting to others, reflecting Christ-like character in the digital world. Students will also be guided to recognize how God can be seen in their unique interests and passions, helping them make meaningful connections between faith, learning, and the responsible use of technology.
Band (5-8)
The CCA Band Program is a part of a tradition of musical worship, excellence, teamwork, and community spirit. Participation in band is not only about creating great music, but also about learning discipline, leadership, responsibility, and pride in one’s accomplishments.
Our philosophy is simple: Worshiping God with Excellence through effort, integrity, and unity. Every member contributes to the success of the ensemble.
Program Goals:
- Worship God through music
- Provide opportunities for musical growth and performance.
- Build teamwork, leadership, and school/community pride.
- Foster discipline, commitment, and responsibility.
- Create lifelong appreciation for music and the arts.
School Activities Offered
Annual Jog-a-thon (K-8)
Our annual Jog-A-Thon is a fun fitness activity for Pre-K through 8th graders and is our most important fundraiser of the year. Students set realistic lap goals based on age and development with all children reaching for their personal best distance.
Growing Godly Girls & Guys (K-5)
Growing up godly is a tough proposition for girls & guys today. We are partnering with parents to help! Growing Godly Girls & Guys is an after-school program that has been created to discuss topics that are meaningful and timely in the lives of today’s young students.
See you at the Pole Prayer (K-12)
See You at the Pole is an annual prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.
Sports Skill Camps (K-8)
Building the foundation for athletic participation is critical for our young students who have a desire to learn more about sports and build their skills. Individual sport camps are held at varying times of the year and seek to build skills and enjoyment for athletic participation.
Special Concerts (K-8)
Annual performances include Christmas and Spring concerts for vocal music and band. All elementary age students participate in vocal music productions. 5th through 8th grade have the opportunity to perform with musical instruments.
Athletics
At Cornerstone Christian, we train each student athlete in a Christ-centered environment, expecting each student-athlete and team to compete in a manner that honors God, our school, our teammates, and our community. Our coaches believe that many of life’s lessons are demonstrated through sports, and athletic competition allows students to develop and demonstrate Christ-like attitudes and behaviors. We expect our athletes to pursue a standard of excellence with character and integrity at all times, on and off the field or court. Middle School athletics will have sports camps or depending on numbers participate in the Metro Christian League. High School athletics compete at the WIAA 1B level in the Columbia Valley League. Cornerstone may partner with other Christian schools to have enough athletes to field a team.
Washington DC Trip (8th Grade)
10-day trip to the East Coast available to all 8th grade students as a wrap up to their US History studies. During this trip, students will get a chance to recognize God in the framework of America, see God’s plan of placing godly men in the leadership of government, and gain an appreciation of the sacrifice of many for the freedoms of all.
Middle School Retreat (6-8)
All middle school students participate in the annual three day retreat to Camp Eagle Fern in Estacada, Oregon. This event is a highlight of the middle school experience at Cornerstone where friendships and teamwork flourish.
High School Service Trip
Paramount to the learning experience are the service trips that occur a minimum of two times during each student’s four years of high school. Recent service trips have gone to Guatemala, Jamaica and Belize. Each trip is a time to participate in servant leadership and experience the glory of God in new and wonderful ways.
Field Trips and Studies
Students participate in many field trips throughout the year to explore and inquire about the learning world outside of the school walls. Cornerstone Christian seeks to serve our community, therefore each grade level designs field trips for students to demonstrate the Christ-like behaviors of servant leadership.
