Welcome to Cornerstone’s International Student Program
At Cornerstone Christian Academy for Learning and Leadership (CCALL), we welcome students from around the world each year. Our International Student Program (ISP) offers an unforgettable English Language Immersion experience, where learning takes place both in the classroom and through daily life.
Immersion is the fastest and most exciting way to master a language. Students become part of our school community, building friendships and learning alongside English-speaking classmates in a supportive, faith-filled environment. They gain both conversational skills and the academic vocabulary needed to excel at English-speaking high schools and universities.
It is a two-way blessing. International students discover American culture while our local students are inspired by new perspectives and enjoy sharing their lives, culture, and faith with friends from across the globe.

Host Family Frequently Asked questions
What is expected of a host family?
Hosting a student is a blessing and a responsibility. As a host family, you will:
- Offer meals each day
- Provide transportation to and from school, events, and activities
- Treat your student as a member of the family
What is required before the student arrives?
Host families are required to attend orientation provided by our International Student Program Director. This session provides cultural awareness, helpful tips, and practical support to help you prepare for a successful hosting experience.
How do we communicate with our international students?
- Understand the students’ program rules and help them follow those expectations
- Create a safe, warm environment where friendships can grow
- Give the student the same privileges and responsibilities as your own children
- Encourage your student to adapt to your home life and culture
- Use tools like Google Translate, especially in the first few weeks, as the student adjusts to English
What accommodation is needed?
- Provide a comfortable bed and daily meals
- If room-sharing is necessary, the student must share with a child of the same gender and similar age
- Provide a space for quiet study and personal time
- Celebrate special occasions such as birthdays
- Ensure they know how to contact loved ones and access support
- Be familiar with their travel insurance in case of emergencies
- Report concerns to the Host Family Coordinator (e.g., homesickness, illness, difficulty adjusting)
- Provide supervision and care, just as you would for your own children
What activities will students enjoy?
Students are curious about American culture. Involve them in your daily life, including:
- Family routines
- Church activities
- School and community events
- Fun local experiences
Short-term exchange students follow a structured, busy schedule. Full-year students will experience daily family life and school routines.
How long is the student’s stay?
- Full-Year Program: September through June (approx. 10 months)
- Cultural Exchange Program: 6–7 days during winter or summer
Are host families compensated?
Yes. Host families receive a stipend to help cover basic living expenses:
- Full-Year Student: $700 per month
- Short-Term Student: $700 per month prorated to their stay
Additional expenses are the responsibility of the international student’s family. A W-9 form is required for full-year compensation. Please consult your tax advisor for reporting guidance.
